## About this session

We are back with another episode of the third season of #NestGen Xpress with Andrew Carey, Global Account Executive of Esri's Imagery & Remote Sensing division.

Esri is renowned for its expertise in 3D Digital Twins. This interview highlights some important factors to consider when capturing data for creating digital twins along with Esri’s range of products offering aerial imagery data.

Esri also focuses on AI-driven geospatial workflows, known as GeoAI. Watch the whole episode to learn how GeoAI assists operators in extracting information, identifying patterns, and detecting changes in data.

**[0:10]** hello everyone welcome to another very exciting episode of nesen Express season 3 I am super thrilled we are right in the middle of day two of aosi exponential and today I have uh I would love to have a fascinating conversation with a very special guest Andrew carry Global account executive of EZ's imagery and remote sensing division Andre welcome to the show yeah thank you for having me it's great to be here and great to chat with you so science of where we all love EZ re tagline and the product especially arjs Pro that we've been discussing and we literally grew up using them so to to start with could you give all of us a brief introduction of yourself and ezri yeah absolutely uh so as you mentioned my name is Andrew kery I'm part of EZ's imagery and remote sensing team uh the science of wear tagline is a very uh clever and catchy and well described uh marketing term for ezri we are all things location as a software company it's great to see our presence across the globe being used by many different users uh ingesting their GIS data and using it

**[1:12]** for a lot of different applications so uh EZ has been renowned for its you know expertise in 3D digital twin so what are the most important factors to consider when capturing data for uh you know creating effective digital twins yeah absolutely so it's great to be here at exponential and talking to our drone customers um at ezri we often see location as a very common digital thread for data uh when we talk about quality systems that are able to extract actionable insights we often talk about the three uh three legs of a stool system of record system of Engagement system of insight uh those three things when it comes to Digital Data are at the core of ezri technology so imagery really as the foundational layer that helps that program be able to start so I love the three legs of a stool and ly uh so SD also offers like a lot of products especially for processing the aial imagery data that you mentioned so could you elaborate on the different products and how they really help

**[2:14]** the survey teams yeah absolutely so at ezri there are a variety of customers using different kinds of systems so uh taking pictures from the air is not a new thing at ezri we've been working on Space based and aerial based imagery systems for many many years drones are definitely the next iteration of data processing um but at ezri we have at our core what we call the RS reality engine and that engine is what powers a variety of different products depending on where you come into the industry whether you're capturing imagery from space an airplane or a drone we have a product solution to meet your need all right so if I can get a little more insight around a part of EZ's reality engine is the Drone to map versus S scan so are there like different products or similar products they're different products they're powered by the same technology right but we do see our customers come to us and they want to process data in different locations so some have security requirements where they need to process data locally some have a uh numerous amounts of pilots and they're

**[3:14]** able to leverage Cloud processing and Cloud technology um some come with different megapixel and resolution siiz cameras and different expectations some folks are remote testing scientists and want all the technology options for advanced processing and we have a variety of products that meet them at their need so drone to map and sides scan are two of those products um there's the ARs reality products that are able to process data within RS Pro as well as the RS reality studio for advanced users got it so another area of focus of asri is been AI driven geospatial workflows the go aai so how does go aai assist operators in extracting information identifying patterns or even detecting changes yeah so we're talking to a lot of folks here at the show uh and they see the value of capturing data from the air so they're flying vehicles they're capturing imagery and if you begin to understand that imagery is data and you have the capacity to extract more intelligence from that imagery I.E extracting features running GOI models you further uh increase the

**[4:18]** efficiency and effectiveness of an image capture solution um at ezri we have not only ways for users to train their own models for things that they're specifically looking for but we also have off-the-shelf deep learning packages that allow users to apply extraction techniques to the imagery they're already collecting could you suggest like uh some case studies or applications of this yeah absolutely so uh I specifically work often uh with aec customers right and and the aec industry is uh particularly has a need not only to create high accuracy survey data but also understand say planimetric extraction so how much square footage of buildings how many trees how many paint lines how many manhole covers how many things and these things are all part of a budget cycle a replacement cycle a maintenance cycle and they mean different things to different people in the life cycle of a project site so depending on what you do for a particular area you may have a different need and at Ezra we want to meet you with what extracting exactly what you're looking for got

**[5:18]** that so uh looking ahead as like to close this session what how do you envision the future of reality capture shaping up yeah so I think further autonomy is absolutely what we have in store for the future so uh we do see a lot of drone in the Box applications uh much like what flight FlytBase has to offer right uh further further enhancements of the autonomy of collecting data um more temp more frequent temporal cadences so another variable that will be added into the Drone collection will be the frequency of collection and even more automation to extracting change from one flight to another so I just I think that when we see the FAA here and we talk about Beyond line of sight and more drone in the boox technology coming online that's absolutely where we're going in the future that definitely sounds like it and especially with boss Arc part 108 coming up uh I hope that we see more autonomous flights coming up in the future and the best part about droner box systems are the multitude Ed and obviously the increased frequency that it brings in so thank you so

**[6:19]** much Andre it was great chatting with you uh it was wonderful to have you at our show today um stay tuned for the upcoming episodes of lesan Express season Tre
