welcome to NES gen 2025 are you excited can you believe it it's already the fourth year it feels just like yesterday when we were kicking off the very first n then back then drone docks were this brand new concept almost a novelty but the world moves fast in just a few years dogs have gone from Cutting Edge to almost ordinary and that's actually a good thing it means we have soled the first piece of the puzzle and companies are now mask producing reliable dogs much like drones themselves that's worth celebrating the challenges have evolved too over the past couple of years we have Inon what's needed to make drone operations truly scalable we are talking about BV loss waivers complex Integrations multi-d drone operations ensuring everything is safe secure and runs like a well oiled machine even with hundreds of drones in the air now everything is about to change again AI **[4:20]** is here and it's not just another tool it's a shift as profound as steam engines or electricity it is redefining how we operate let me welcome jeriah covitz group editorial director of commercial UAV news who will give us a deep dive into how far we have come as an industry and a glimpse of what the future of drone autonomy holds thank you nitton we really appreciate the opportunity to help kick things off at NestGen 25 my name is jeremi Kitz editorial director for the commercial UAV Expos and Commercial UAV news and I want to tell you a quick story it's a story about what it means to recognize an opportunity and take action and I hope it's instructive around what it means for you to get the most out of this event and with this technology in 2014 the sparo group was running their annual event which is focused on 3D scanning tools when the event director realized there was an unusual amount of drones on the floor that year this was an event dominated by laser **[5:21]** scanners and mobile mapping systems so why were there so much curiosity about drones how many people knew how to operate them or integrate the data they captured into established workflows those were good questions to ask and they didn't even factor in the regulatory piece because at the time the FAA only granted permissions to commercial pilots on a case-by Case basis via section 333 exemption in a process that was cumbersome at best and a non-starter worst part 107 changed all that but to say that launching commercial U Expo in that environment was a bit of a risk is an understatement undeterred that event director plowed forward to create one of the most successful Brands the organization has ever seen that success comp the launch of commercial AB news which is why I'm standing before you right now because that event director was not me it was our previous event director but I tell you that story to illustrate the importance of taking action in the face of uncertainty and what kind of good things can happen when you do I can't tell you what your adoption of this technology should look like just like I can't tell you exactly what you're going to get out of this event but by thinking about your next step with drones and being an active **[6:25]** participant at this event you will see a difference I can say that because I've experienced that at countless events and have Quantified the value of the adoption of drone technology across multiple sectors and I really can tell you those differences matter in 2025 in a way they didn't a decade ago the thing is the potential of this technology is something we've been talking about for a long time way longer than the past decade even what drones can do when it comes to supporting efforts related to capturing better data or positively impact fluid security or enable better land use planning it's been top of mind for a long time but the potential and possibility times got the best of us limitations with the technology and regulations prevented operators and organizations from doing what they really wanted to do which made it easy to talk about the potential of the future rather than the reality of the present but things are different with both in 2025 in a way that's important to call out and you just have to look at what FlytBase has done to see proof of that their Solutions are being used to support emergency response and to track progress on construction sites autonomously and to monitor utility Farm drones were all the rage 10 years ago but that hype has died down in a big way what's repl it as something much more meaningful though because you see that much more about crop spaying today that is a practical application that isn't going to make sense for everyone in the same way but it's created real value because and it's so much more value than Farm drones and it's value that's been enabled thanks to Ai and autonomy improvements that have changed the Paradigm for operators and organizations around how they can be adopted the autonomous Mission planning and scheduling that's at your fingertips right now wasn't possible not too long ago which makes it all the more important for you to take action with this technology **[8:29]** right now the difference you can make with it today will compound as the technology further improves that said I don't want to get too caught up with the technology itself because it's actually not the most important element of the adoption process which connects back to the importance of events like this because it's ultimately all about the people that are involved what does it mean to convince somebody that it's time to make a change how do individual workflows to change why is now the right time to adopt all of those answers are about more about people than about technology and the speak speakers at this event will be indirectly answering all of those questions providing you with insights that allow you to go back to your teams and networks to take action taking action is something I want to challenge all of you to do because that's ultimately how you can make a difference and help toine new business models that are emerging and will change expector expectations across entire Industries and make no mistake about it whether it's a general public realizing it shouldn't take up to an hour to get a response to a 911 call or an asset owner realizing that they could be looking at real-time video instead of a grainy image expectations are changing I Envision those expectations will further **[9:33]** evolve as the technology gets more accessible thanks to improved AI capabilities that are being built into these systems I'm personally looking forward to new business models that might see those assets shared by multiple organizations or agencies what would it mean for a police and fire department to share a drone docking station the adoption of this technology by Public Safety teams is something to keep an eye on this year because the stakes associated with not adopting it have never been clear those Stakes associated with not taking action is where I want to close things out because all of you should understand those Stakes if you don't move forward with the adoption of a new tool or innovation it's not going to be the end of the world in the short term probably nothing's going to happen but that's why I'll challenge you to think about more than the short term think about how much value could be unlocked think about the positive outcomes that aren't going to be enabled and I get it there's risk and uncertainty associated with taking action for our event director launching commercial UAB Expo was a risk R but it's one that's paid off with the creation of a brand and community that continues to grow and **[10:34]** evolve it underscores the long-term benefits it can be enabled in ways you'd never imagine you can see the stakes of these decisions are about much more than the impact they'll make in the short term they're decisions that can enable a positive impact for individuals on every side of the conversation those conversations are what enable action so I'm not just going to ask but implore all of you to connect with the individuals that are speaking at this event to have those China a shift from manual Dr operations to **[12:39]** complete automated workflows the electric power industry is one of the most advanced Industries for drone applications in China the use of drones in the energy sector have gone through several stages starting in 2013 some Powerline companies started to use consumer drwes like DJ Phantom 2 for manual inspections by 2018 they gradually began to drone dogs have not only fundamentally changed the way we capture data it has opened a multiple new use cases today organizations are using dog drones to automate a range of task in their facilities from sight Security in critical asset inspections to generating detail maps and digital twins all from a single dock on the site do drones have already started to become an important asset on the Enterprise sites it's amazing to see how far we have come in just 12 months let's hear from our valued Partners who have brought these dog drone Solutions scale my name is Ryan Smith and I am the President and founder of Titan protection we are a physical security company based in Kansas City we have around 600 employees total and operate throughout the entire United States when we're talking about using **[15:49]** drones for security we need two things we need to overcome the Beyond visual of sight requirement and then we need to have some sort of mechanism to charge the Drone remotely those two things have really come together in the past year specifically for us to being the first security company that has received a nationwide Beyond visual L A Sight waiver we have a fully redundant UL listed five Diamond certified monitoring and remote piloting center that is the value that we provide to customers in that we are the eyes behind the Drone eyes behind the camera even if a customer may have the infrastructure to fly drones remotely on their own they may not want the headache the liability somebody has to be on the other end of the drone at 3: in the morning when it detects the bad person to then take action we focus very heavily on training operations and systems for remote Pilots there's mainly two things that a drone can accomplish from a security aspect and that is doing a preventative Patrol trying to find something that's suspicious or that needs action the other side of that is the response portion where the Drone is **[16:52]** automatically responding to a triggering event autonomous response and Patrol is really where we're seeing the two functions operate on a security side of things people will wonder are we replacing security officers with technology and sometimes we do but most of the time how do we layer those things together for the most coste effective and efficient way to protect a property really excited for the Drone industry and to see how things are rapidly accelerating I've been chomping at this problem of how to use drones in security since 2014 and I'll say we've seen the most positive momentum in the last 12 to 18 months that we've seen over that 10-year period it's an exciting time and hope you enjoy the conference our team views 2025 as the launch Point into doc docked drone operations and many
